Hola padres! This week in Spanish we have continued our mastery of body part vocabulary. I started out with first grade playing a flyswatter game where when I called out a body part, they had to use the flyswatter and swat the body part picture first. They really had fun with this and I was able to see where we still needed to do some work. We will continue today with the same type of game but this time I will ask them to swat pictures that not only match the body part I am asking for but also the color. This should also be fun!
Kinder parents, as some of you may know, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I no longer have my half hour Spanish classes with Kinder as my time is now needed in the 3rd grade for Spanish. I am so sad to leave the adorable and lovable kindergarteners, but we are very fortunate to have covered the essential units that I need for them to know for PE: colors, body parts and numbers. I will continue to incorporate these words into class when I see them for PE and do as much as I can with them in Spanish so that they continue to learn. Please stay updated with the blog as that way you can know what we are doing and what you can do to help support them at home.
In terms of PE this week, we have been using a lot of our color vocabulary as we have used red and blue jerseys to play games with, listened for specific colors in our parachute games and used colored bean bags in a hungry crabs game today. I so enjoy to see the scholars ponder what color it is that I am calling and try to figure out what to do. They do a great job of listening.
Next week for first grade, we will move into adjectives and see how we can use them to describe different nouns. This is always a fun unit as we use different gestures and movements to help us learn the words.
In PE we will begin our unit on catching and throwing and the different body movements that make up those two concepts. We will use very soft spongy balls so no one should get hurt. I look forward to seeing out they do! Have a wonderful rest of the week and I look forward to connecting with you again next week!
Sra. Hamilton
