Hola padres! For both Kinder and first we have continued this week with learning and practicing our family vocabulary. We will continue this unit next week with some beginning bilingual readers and question and answer games.
Your scholars are also doing an amazing job learning la fecha or the date! I begin every class with the exercise of having them tell me the day of the week, the actual numerical date of the month, the month and the year and so many of them are now able to do it on their own! I am so excited that it is sinking in as I feel that they will really know their months, days of the week and numbers this way.
In PE, we have begun our jump rope unit. The scholars have enthusiastically taken this task on and are wholeheartedly helping each other out. I mention to them that this is a skill that could take a few classes to learn. Please remind them of this and if it is at all possible, have them practice at home. I am doing my best to emphasize safety with the scholars, but we have had couple of casualties and I am so sorry. I am doing my best to make sure they are spaced out enough so that they don't hit each other, but accidents happen. Thankfully, they seem to really enjoy the unit so far.
Just a quick suggestion in terms of some Spanish you can do at home. Pocoyo is an adorable little cartoon that you can find easily on YouTube completely in Spanish. The animation is of such high quality that despite the fact that your child may not understand it all, they will know what is going on by the cartoon itself. It is a great way for your child to practice hearing the language spoken. Please give it a try!
Adios,
Sra. Hamilton
