Jump Rope Contest and la familia quiz

Hola padres! What a week it has been! The scholars are so excited about the jump rope contest! We have had most of the class competitions and will finish up with those today! i know there have been some disappointed scholars this week, but I am so proud of all of them as they have worked so hard to improve this sometimes difficult skill! I am hoping they will be happy to cheer on their classmates tomorrow at the K-1 contest. All K-1 classes will assemble at 9:30 on the basketball court and we will begin jumping soon after that. Please join us if you can!

We reviewed this week for our familia quiz by reading a bilingual early reader in class about what families do together and also by practicing translating some sentences from Spanish into English. It is great to see how well the scholars are understanding how words go together and how they translate. You can really tell they are thinking when they ask me why in Spanish it takes 2 words to say something, but 5 to say it in English. Having them see the words written out in the bilingual readers really helps them see how the language is structured and I enjoy their curious questions.

The quiz itself has gone well. Most of the scholars seem to be comfortable with it and I hope to have it turned back to them in the next week or so.

Next week for Spanish we will be starting a new unit on clothing.

In PE, we will be taking a break from jump roping and playing instead some fun cooperation games. I will be sure to fit more jump roping into PE as I know it is an activity that everyone loves and it is a great way to exercise.

Adios,
Sra. Hamilton
